There are three things in the bathroom that Myla loves: toilets, toilet paper, and toothpaste. Well, I had the bathroom all prepped nothing in her reach, the toilet seat closed and everything set for Mommy to take a shower and Myla to entertain herself in a safe and sanitary way. As far as my shower goes, she did great... not a single interruption. BUT... as all mothers know, when there's silence... things can't be good. I opened the shower curtain and discovered this...
I guess I wasn't as prepared as I thought. So I put her down on the floor and took out the camera to capture "the climb".
How can you get mad at this face?
Quick story: A few weeks ago I heard Myla gently playing the piano. Impressed that she wasn't pounding on it, I praised her and applauded her skills leaving her feeling sooo confident... Moments later, the school kids came home and Lyti asked if she could go play the piano with Myla. "Uh... I think one pianist is enough for now," I said. To which she replied, "Well then can I get her down?" I looked up and found the monkey STILL playing gently, but not with her fingers anymore... her toes!!! She smiled proudly at her accomplishment completely clueless as to why Mommy was racing up the stairs after her. At that moment, I didn't think to take out the camera, I was more concerned for her safety so I rescued her immediately. BUT... I did manage to get her to reinact it a little.
Of course, when I tried to get her to do it today for the photos, she only got this far and smiled proudly as if her mother made the whole thing up... This angel face would NEVER do such a naughty thing!!
Myla's third favorite spot to climb is the living room recliner. Of course, I couldn't get the "proper" method to her madness (which is up the side of the chair by standing on the recliner handle & then over the arm rest), but none the less... she does this DAILY and EVERY SINGLE TIME, I fear that she'll topple over onto the hard ground and I will lose all hope for the "Mother of the Year" award. Ha.Ha.
Pausing for a photo opp. for Mom and obviously overjoyed that Mom hasn't stopped her from her climb.
Did anyone notice the reason for this climb? If you click on the next photo you may see the tiny fishy stickers on the glass door that she attempts to grab before anyone gets her down. Also, take note of the many finger/hand prints on the door. Proof that I didn't make this up. Yes, the prints are ALL hers since she does it over and over again. Notice that she hasn't quite reached the top one yet? She has a thing for the blue one and Mommy usually grabs her before she can come to a full stand on top of the chair to reach the top one.
So there she is... our little climber. And as the song goes, "there's always gonna be another mountain," we'll just have to wait and see where her next adventures take her to. Only time will tell.

Yay...a new blog.
I, Aunty Lohi, has witnessed this wonderful climber first hand and yes...I was very impressed. That one night we were talking, My was very persistent in climbing up the chair. You kept on putting her back on the ground but she didn't mind. She just got right back up to get those fishes. I think that it's so funny that she climbs everywhere but doesn't care to walk. I guess just as long as she gets where she wants to go, that's all that matters :).
my favorite pic is the one of myla in the sink with the toothpaste up to her mouth. so cute. grandma julia was telling me that you have a method where myla holds on to your back while you crawl along. she told me, "channy, you should try that with sinalei." :) although myla isn't walking she has definitely made up for it with her climbing skills. my goodness she's good. and you know the wheels in her head are turning as she methodically tries to figure out how she's gonna get into that sink or play the piano with her toes. that means she's smart. ;) she has grown so much since we last saw her.
I laughed so hard and Kamalei was just looking up staring at me. Once I stopped he kept looking at the screen, pointing and saying "MOM! MY MY!.... MOM! MY MY!...." Her sippy cup is on our table and each time he walks by it he says "My My". Last night he was saying "Mom, My My... Bye Bye?" Over and over. This post was toooo cute! She is too talented for her own good :) I think you are still in the running for Mother of the Year... great post.
That is AWESOME!!! And I can only say that because it's not Ola doing it. Because if it were him, as I often find him, I'd be running, scolding, and pulling him down as quickly as possible. When he falls, he hits hard. But my favorite is her in the sink with the toothpaste. Look at how she uses her toes on the cabinet doors. Now that's skill. You need to catch that on video and send it in to America's Funniest Home Videos. That's a winner for sure. Besides, who needs to walk when you can climb??
No wonder the place is falling apart! It's the kids jungle Jim...Awwww but they're so cute.....I guess after we finish your new home, we'll have to remodel ours. Who's next??????My is a darling, how can Grand Pops get mad at that little angel? After all what would Koa do without her feeding him from the table all of the time? Reality is when she eats, he camps below her chair. She is so sloppy, and pushes her food off the edge over to the floor for him.
Aloha Pops
She is so big! She is such a great climber, maybe she'll be into rock climbing in a few years. ;)
wow, miss myla is not a baby anymore. It looks like she climbs better than Ammon!? I like the pics of her sitting innocently in the bathroom sink with the toothpaste...very cute.
and about grandpa's comment- I guess Koa found a new buddy that is a messy eater. He was always under there when ammon ate.
Anyway, see you guys in two weeks and enjoy your trip without the kids! Oh and happy birthday Kailea!I feel better now that she's 3 and ammon is ONLY two. That will explain the differences in their range of vocabulary.
oh and I wish you got a pic of her playing the piano with her toes!
i gotta say i am impressed with her skills. but i think that's all i can comment for now because i'm busy with the next 9 days. don't worry though, i'm sure i'll have a mouthful and some in about 9 days =)
